Siddharth Nagar:

A huge crowd, carrying saffron flags and chanting “Jai Shree Ram”, brandished swords and guns during a Dussehra rally in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

The police say it’s a traditional practice to take out such processions on Dussehra or Vijay Dashami, which marks the end of the 10-day-long festivities of Durga Puja.

The incident was reported from Siddharth Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh.

Some videos, which are now in wide circulation, show the participants of the rally brandishing their swords and guns while loud music plays in the background.

The armed men were seen dancing to religious songs and raising “Jai Shree Ram” slogans.

Some were spotted making videos and taking selfies.

Several people took to social media, demanding action against the rally participants for wielding swords and guns.

Responding to one such tweet, police said it’s a tradition to take out processions with weapons on Dussehra.

A probe has been launched to investigate other allegations, the police said.
