India needed four Bangladesh wickets at the start of day five to seal a win and KL Rahul‘s men wrapped it up in a flash. This was Rahul’s first Test win as India captain. He is the stand-in skipper in place of the injured Rohit Sharma.
Kuldeep, who claimed five wickets in the first innings, returned a match-hault of 8/113 — his best in Tests. The Chinaman bowle was adjudged Man of the Match for his magnificent bowling.
The second Test will be played from December 22 to December 26 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
The two-match series is part of the ICC World Test Championship.
India are fourth in the standings, having won six of their 12 matches. Bangladesh are in last place with eight defeats from 10 matches.
