Reeling under a stark water shortage worsened by a harsh summer, Delhi is set to get additional water supply from Himachal Pradesh. The hill state must release 125 cusecs of additional water to Delhi, ordered the Supreme Court on Thursday. It also asked Haryana to make arrangements for uninterrupted supply of water to Delhi.

There should not be any politics on water, remarked a vacation bench of Justices of Prashant K Mishra and KV Viswanathan.

While Himachal had no objection in supplying water to Delhi, Haryana said there’s no mechanism to measure and separate this additional water supplied by Himachal.

The Supreme Court also remarked that there should be no wastage of water by the Delhi government.
