{"id":253003,"date":"2022-10-29T15:40:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-29T15:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/haftavasool.com\/haftavasool\/?p=253003"},"modified":"2022-10-29T15:40:00","modified_gmt":"2022-10-29T15:40:00","slug":"india-to-contribute-500000-to-un-trust-fund-for-counter-terrorism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/haftavasool.com\/haftavasool\/blog\/2022\/10\/29\/india-to-contribute-500000-to-un-trust-fund-for-counter-terrorism\/","title":{"rendered":"India To Contribute $500,000 To UN Trust Fund For Counter-Terrorism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"articleBody\" id=\"ins_storybody\"><!-- \n\n<div itemprop=\"articleBody\" class=\"sp-cn ins_storybody\" id=\"ins_storybody\">--><\/p>\n<div class=\"ins_instory_dv\">\n<div class=\"ins_instory_dv_cont\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"India To Contribute $500,000 To UN Trust Fund For Counter-Terrorism\" alt=\"India To Contribute $500,000 To UN Trust Fund For Counter-Terrorism\" id=\"story_image_main\" src=\"https:\/\/c.ndtvimg.com\/2022-10\/5menfg38_s-jaishankar_625x300_29_October_22.jpg\"\/><\/div>\n<p class=\"ins_instory_dv_caption sp_b\">S Jaishankar said during the plenary session of the UNSC&#8217; meeting of Counter Terrorism Committee.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b class=\"place_cont\">New Delhi: <\/b><\/p>\n<p>External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday said that India will contribute $500,000 to the United Nations Trust Fund for Counter Terrorism this year to aid capacity-building support to member states in combating terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>He made this announcement during his keynote address at the plenary session of the UNSC&#8217;s special meeting of the Counter Terrorism Committee (CTC ) on &#8216;countering the use of new and emerging technologies for terrorist purposes&#8217; in New Delhi today.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the UNSC&#8217;s special meeting in the national capital, Mr Jaishankar said, &#8220;India will be making a voluntary contribution of half a million dollars to the UN Trust Fund for Counter Terrorism this year to augment the efforts of Office of Counter-Terrorism in providing capacity-building support to member states in preventing and countering the threat of terrorism.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In his address, Mr Jaishankar highlighted the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ndtv.com\/india-news\/at-top-un-meet-s-jaishankar-on-potent-instruments-in-terrorist-toolkit-3471379\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">global threat of terrorism<\/a> is growing and expanding, particularly in Asia and Africa, despite the UN Security Council&#8217;s (UNSC) best efforts to combat the &#8220;gravest threat to humanity&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Terrorism remains the gravest threat to humanity. The UN Security Council in the past two decades has evolved an important architecture built, primarily around the counter-terrorism sanctions regime to combat this menace. This has been very effective in putting the countries on notice that had turned terrorism into a state-funded enterprise,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Despite this, the threat of terrorism is only growing and expanding, particularly in Asia and Africa, as successive reports of 1267 sanctions committee monitoring reports have highlighted,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>India is hosting the two-day anti-terrorism meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
