By India Today Web Desk<\/b><\/a>: Netherlands head coach Louis Van Gaal has slammed the press coverage of his team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup saying it was the same in 2014 as well. The Dutch will face off with the USA in their round of 16 tie at the Khalifa International Stadium.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of their clash with the USA, Van Gaal blasted the media for their negative coverage of his team.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2014 it was exactly the same, it was not different. It was very negative. But, the exact same thing now, same old, so I’m used to it and I think my players are also used to it. We’re going to calmly continue on the path that we’ve embarked on,\u201d said Van Gaal.<\/p>\n

The former Manchester United coach heaped praise on the USMNT (United States Men\u2019s National Team), calling them one of the best team at the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey [USA] have an excellent team, I would say even one of the best teams. It will be a tough match, but it’s nothing we can’t overcome. We also have a good team. But I’m not going to downplay the USA. I think they’re an example of what a good team is. There are teams who have progressed who are not good teams, but who have great individual quality,\u201d Van Gaal added.<\/p>\n

The 71-year-old said he wont be taking up the role of Belgium\u2019s coach after Roberto Martinez stepped down, saying his wife wouldn\u2019t move to Belgium.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are quite right, you have got to convince my wife Truus. No joking, aside. No. I am always at liberty to take decisions myself. But there are certain countries that I will not move to and my wife Truus will certainly not move to. So it is as simple as that. But I think that we are here to work with the Dutch team. We want to become world champions,\u201d said Van Gaal.<\/p>\n
