By India Today Web Desk<\/b><\/a>: France and Manchester United defender Rafael Varane has heaped praise on Morocco, calling them a team that is united. The defending champions are set to face the Atlas Lions in the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of their match, Varane said Morocco are a very solid and united team, adding that their performances in the tournament will give them a lot of confidence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think they’re a very solid team, very difficult to move. Defensively, we see a great solidarity. They write the history of Moroccan football, so it’s such a collective force that emerges. They have had performances that gave them a lot of confidence. It’s a team that is united. And here, I think they have weapons also offensively, whether on counterattacks, on set pieces or on individual actions. They have quality players,\u201d said Varane.<\/p>\n

The former Real Madrid centre-back said France\u2019s objective is to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup from the start of the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we’ve already done a great competition. Now, the initial objective is to win. We know how difficult it is, but that’s always been the goal since the competition started. Afterwards, of course, it’s already a satisfaction to be in the semi-finals. It’s not an easy thing,\u201d Varane added.<\/p>\n

Varane touched upon Antoine Griezmann\u2019s new role in the midfield, saying he brings a lot to the team, on and off the pitch.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has the experience and the qualities that allow him to have this role in the team. It’s an extremely important role and that’s it. In any case, he is in full possession of his means and in full confidence. So he brings a lot, a lot to the group on the pitch and also off it,\u201d said Varane.<\/p>\n

France are set to face Morocco in the semi-finals and will face the winners of Argentina versus Croatia in the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n
