By India Today Web Desk<\/b><\/a>: Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers has showered praise on England\u2019s Ben Stokes, saying he was undervalued and underpaid in the recently concluded IPL mini-auction. Chennai Superkings splurged Rs 16.25 crore on the England Test captain at the mini-auction in Kochi.<\/p>\n

Speaking on JioCinema, de Villiers said CSK is a lucky team to have Stokes amongst their ranks, adding that he brings experience with both bat and ball in the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cYaa lucky team (CSK). Don’t think there’s any amount of money for Ben Stokes in my opinion. An unbelievable player, he is a leader, his experience with both bat and ball in the field,\u201d said de Villiers.<\/p>\n

The former Royal Challengers Bangalore batter said Stokes is a bit undervalued and underpaid in his opinion, insisting that he is going to bring a lot to the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is going to win you games in cricket and that’s what you want. I actually think he is a bit undervalued, in my opinion, and underpaid. He is going to bring a lot to the party,\u201d de Villiers added.<\/p>\n

Former England captain Eoin Morgan said Stokes is a steal at Rs 16.25 crore, saying the experience that he brings under pressure situation is invaluable.<\/p>\n

“Whatever it takes to get Ben Stokes, get Ben Stokes. He is that big game player. Like we saw in the World Cup final, to show the cooler calmer version of himself, when he needs it, he can call upon it anytime. He can take the new ball. It\u2019s just a complete package. What is there to be spent?” Morgan added.<\/p>\n

Stokes found interest from Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants who took the price upwards of Rs 10 crore in a short span of time. Chennai Super Kings swooped in late and picked up the Stokes for Rs. 16.25 crore, joint third highest money ever paid at an IPL auction.<\/p>\n
