By India Today Web Desk: Premier League top-scorer and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has said that watching other players score and win matches for their teams at the 2022 FIFA World Cup triggered and motivated him.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Leeds United, Haaland said he is hungrier than ever, insisting that watching others score for their teams at the World Cup irritated him.

“Being home, being a bit mad that I don’t play at the World Cup. I was kind of a commentator for the World Cup in my own home where no one listens to me. I kind of recharged my batteries and to watch other people score and win games in the World Cup kind of triggers me and motivates me and also irritates me. I’m more hungry and more ready than ever,” said Haaland.

The Norwegian striker said Manchester City was hunting Arsenal, who remain at the top of the Premier League after 15 matches.

“We win, that’s the most important thing. You see Arsenal at the top, now we have to hunt them, so that we win, I’m really happy,” Haaland added.

Haaland scored a brace in the second half as Manchester City beat Leeds United 3-1. He went on to say that he could have scored a couple more goals and will have to keep practicing in order to get better.

“I just said it inside (the dressing room), I could have scored five, it’s the truth. For me, as a striker, I could have scored a couple more but that’s life, what can I do? I have to practice more,” said Haaland.

That was Haaland’s 25th goal for the Citizens in 20 appearances in all competitions. He scored his 26th in the 64th minute to make it 3-0. He later missed out on a fourth hat trick of the season when his shot tamely at Illan Meslier in goal for Leeds United.
