Doubles is a lot less taxing on the body and mentally it&#8217;s a bit easier as well,&#8221; Kokkinakis said.<br \/>&#8220;Obviously, singles is our priority but I think it would be rude not to go out there and have fun with it.&#8221;<br \/>Ahead of the Australian Open, which begins on Jan. 16, Kokkinakis will play in the singles in the first of two Adelaide International tournaments.<br \/>The Australian said he was surprised by the strength of the field for the ATP 250 event, which also features former world number ones Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev.<br \/>&#8220;It&#8217;s absurd, I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ve ever seen a (ATP) 250 this strong,&#8221; he said ahead of his hometown tournament.<br \/>&#8220;Holger (Rune) is 11th in the world and he&#8217;s the (number) five seed? I mean, for a 250 that&#8217;s insane. This is strong for a 500 event let alone a 250.
