The incident occurred when the advanced light helicopter (ALH) was on a routine flying mission.<\/p>\n<p>Indian Navy said that three crew members of the &#8216;Dhruv&#8217; chopper have been rescued. They are being medically examined as the Navy&#8217;s helicopter case INS Shikra.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Indian Navy ALH on a routine sortie off Mumbai ditched close to the coast. Immediate Search and Rescue ensured safe recovery of crew of three by naval patrol craft,&#8221; Indian Navy spokesperson said on its official Twitter handle.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Indian Navy ALH on a routine sortie off Mumbai ditched close to the coast.<br \/>Immediate Search and Rescue ensured safe recovery of crew of three by naval patrol craft.<br \/>An inquiry to investigate the incident has been ordered.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 SpokespersonNavy (@indiannavy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/indiannavy\/status\/1633349245007970308?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 8, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Ditching&#8221; refers to an emergency landing on water.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said that the helicopter experienced a sudden loss of power during a sortie over the Arabian Sea. This resulted in a rapid loss of height. The pilot then performed a controlled ditching over water.
