After a breathtaking 104 from Klaasen that lit up the Uppal Stadium, Kohli and Faf du Plessis<\/a> put on their superhero capes as the duo made a mockery of the 187 chase.<\/p>\n
Firing the highest partnership of the season, Kohli and du Plessis added 172 runs for the opening wicket as Bangalore cruised to their seventh win and sneaked into the top four, pushing Mumbai Indians to the fifth.<\/p>\n
Slamming his sixth century and first since 2019, batting virtuoso Kohli also equalled Chris Gayle’s record of hitting most hundreds in the biggest cricket league in the world.<\/p>\n
After Kohli and du Plessis’ mammoth fourth century-plus partnership, Glenn Maxwell and Michael Bracewell wrapped up the chase with 4 balls to spare.
Klaasen displayed his big-hitting prowess, slamming six sixes and eight fours during his scintillating 51-ball 104-run knock to lift SRH to 186 for five from 28 for 2 in the fifth over.<\/p>\n
But Kohli (100) had other plans as he and du Plessis (71) helped RCB chase down the target with their magnificent ball-striking on way to a record-breaking opening stand.
RCB are now at no.4 on the table due to their better net run rate although they are tied with Mumbai on 14 points. They will, however, have to win their next match to stay in the mix as Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants are at 15 points with one match to go.
Kohli was all class as he hit four maximums and 12 fours in his 63-ball knock, while du Plessis cracked seven fours and two sixes in his 47-ball knock as the two dished out a chasing masterclass.
Often criticised for slowing down post the powerplay, Kohli settled the debate with some extraordinary shots as he kept dealing in boundaries in the middle overs to never let the tempo slip.<\/p>\n

Batting first, after openers failed, Iyer came in as an impact player and straight away went on to attack MI bowlers.<br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>With no support from the other end, Iyer took all the pressure and went on to hit 104 runs off 51 balls at a strike rate of 203.92 with 6 fours and 9 sixes. Surprisingly, this was KKR\u2019s second hundred in the IPL history after Brendon McCullum\u2019s 158 in IPL 2008. <br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>Unfortunately, KKR went down against Suryakumar\u2019s brilliance and lost by 5 wickets.<br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>The young left-hander is in the rich form of his life as he is among the leading run-getters in this year\u2019s tournament with 575 runs in 13 games. One of his prolific batting was seen against MI at Wankhede Stadium. <br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>Batting first, Jaiswal wasted no time and attacked the MI bowling line-up. Jaiswal played a lone hand and went on to hit his first century of the tournament. Jaiswal ended up scoring 124 runs off 62 deliveries with 16 boundaries and 8 sixes at a strike rate of 200. RR went on to score 212\/7.<br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>In the second innings, RR bowlers had no answers to MI\u2019s lethal batting line-up led by Suryakumar Yadav, and eventually RR went on to lose the game by 6 wickets.<br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>The next on this list is none other than India\u2019s and MI\u2019s 360* player Suryakumar who smashed a brilliant ton against in-form GT at Wankhede.<br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>Batting first, the openers made a steady start to the innings but once skipper Rohit got dismissed, Surya entered the arena and played as an anchor in the middle-overs. <br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>Once the last five overs were remaining, Surya changed his gears and rampaged GT bowlers, and scored his first-ever IPL hundred. With the brilliance of SKY, MI reached a total of 218\/5.<br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>In the second innings, apart from Rashid Khan who played a fighting knock of 79* off 32 balls, no other batters contributed which resulted in a loss by 27 runs.<br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>SKY scored 103* runs off 49 balls with 11 boundaries and 6 sixes at a strike rate of 210.2.<br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>Prabhsimran Singh became the fifth player to hit a century in the IPL 2023, facing Delhi Capitals in the 59th game of the tournament. <br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>Batting first, PBKS scored 167 runs thanks to the fascinating knock played by Prabhsimran. The 22-year-old scored 103 runs in 65 deliveries, and it led to PBKS ultimately winning the game as well by 31 runs.<br \/><br \/><br \/><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>India\u2019s new-gen batter and GT opener Shubhman Gill became the sixth player in this year\u2019s IPL to smash a hundred. <\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>Batting first, Gill accelerated the innings in the powerplay and showed intent on his happy hunting ground. Gill notched his first IPL hundred and became the franchise\u2019s first centurion in the tournament. <\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>SRH\u2019s swashbuckling batter Heinrich Klaasen smashed his first-ever IPL hundred in the ongoing season. Klaasen got to his century by hitting a six. Klaasen scored 104 runs off 51 balls at a strike rate of 203.92 with 8 boundaries and 6 sixes.<br \/><br \/>\u200b<\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <p>The modern-day master announced himself in the ongoing IPL by scoring an astonishing century after 4 years of wait. After Klaasen\u2019s brilliance in the first innings, Kohli scored 100 off 62 balls with 12 boundaries and 4 maximums at a strike rate of 158.73. Kohli also equalled his former RCB star batter Chris Gayle\u2019s tally of 6 centuries in IPL history.<\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Needing a win to stay in play-off contention, Kohli and du Plessis gave RCB a flying start to their chase. The in-form opening duo played some gorgeous shots, piling up 64 in the first six overs. Parnell nailed the yorkers to concede just seven runs in the next over but Klaasen then plundered Harshal over his head to bring up his hundred. Kohli started the proceedings with two hits across the ropes off Bhuvneshwar Kumar, before slamming spinner Abhishek Sharma for two more boundaries.
The skipper then joined the party, punishing Kartik Tyagi for bowling short with three fours though he was dropped by Glenn Phillips in between at the boundary line.
Kohli then played an exquisite shot at deep extra cover for another four as 18 runs came off the fourth over.
Du Plessis next deposited Bhuvneshwar over deep square leg and followed it up with another four with RCB accumulating 14 runs off the over.
Knowing well that net run rate might come into play to decide the top four, Kohli and du Plessis kept their foot on the pedal with the former pulling debutant Nitish Reddy over deep mid.
Mayank Dagar pulled off an unbelievable catch at the boundary line but du Plessis survived after umpire called it a no-ball as Nitish was guilty of bowling a second bouncer.
After two quiet overs, du Plessis blasted Abhishek for a six and a four, before Bhuvneshwar came in the firing line, conceding four boundaries as the 15th over yielded 18 runs.
Kohli completed his hundred with another six off Bhuvneshwar before holing out in the next ball. Du Plessis followed suit with T Natarajan’s slower delivery doing the trick.
Glenn Maxwell and Michael Bracewell then completed the job.
Earlier, Klaasen forged a 76-run partnership with Aiden Markram (18) before adding another 74 off 36 balls with Harry Brook (27 not out) to take SRH to a competitive total.
Already out of playoff race, SRH once again had a poor start with Rahul Tripathi (15) and Abhishek Sharma (11) frittering away good starts.
It was off-spinner Michael Bracewell who struck twice, removing both the openers in his first three balls. While Abhishek hit straight to Lomror at cover, Tripathi found the fine leg fielder off his slog paddle sweep.
Klaasen hammered three fours off Shahbaz Ahmed to power the Sunrisers to 49 for 2 in the powerplay.
Klassen rocked back and pulled every time the ball was short as Bracewell and Harshal Patel was sent across the ropes, while Karn Sharma was dispatched for a 74-metre six.
Karn Sharma was then punished for bowling over-pitched with Klaasen depositing him into the stands. The South African completed his fifty in 24 balls.
While Klaasen was in full flow, Markram managed just run-a-ball 18 before his off stump was pegged back by Shahbaz while he looked for a reverse hit.
Brook then picked up a four and six off Karn Sharma, who bled 21 runs, with Klaasen too lifting him over cover.
