NEW DELHI: Indian shooters Tiyana, Sakshi Suryavanshi, and Kirandeep Kaur joined forces to capture the gold medal in the Women’s 50M Pistol event at the 2023 ISSF World Championships on Friday. This triumphant victory contributed to India’s remarkable tally of 14 medals, including six gold and eight bronze, solidifying their second-place finish in the overall standings, with China clinching the top spot.
The Indian trio showcased their exceptional prowess by amassing a total of 1,573 points, securing the top position in the team event. China followed closely with 1,567 points, while Mongolia secured the third spot with 1,566 points, making for a thrilling competition.
Tiyana, a standout performer, continued her impressive streak by also capturing an individual bronze medal in the Women’s 50M Pistol event. She showcased remarkable precision, notching a score of 533. Sakshi Suryavanshi’s commendable performance earned her the fifth spot with a score of 531, while Kirandeep Kaur secured the 11th position with a score of 509.<\/p>\n
The Indian contingent further fortified their medal count with a pair of bronze medals in the Men’s 50M Pistol category. Ravinder Singh demonstrated his skill by claiming the third spot in the individual event with a score of 556. He later teamed up with Kamaljeet and Vikram Shinde to seize the team bronze medal with a combined score of 1,646.
As the championship unfolded, the final Olympic event witnessed the Indian duo of Prithviraj Tondaiman and Manisha Keer delivering a score of 133, securing the 22nd position. Simultaneously, Kynan Chenai and Preeti Rajak achieved the same score but landed in the 24th position in the final standings.
The 2023 ISSF World Championships proved to be a showcase of India’s shooting talent, highlighting the nation’s dedication to excellence on the global stage. With a total of 14 medals and four Paris Olympic quotas secured, Indian shooters have once again underscored their remarkable skill and determination.
