In a shocking incident of negligence and insensitivity from Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri, a 17-year-old girl died after a doctor at a private hospital allegedly gave her the wrong injection. The victim’s family alleges that the hospital staff then dumped her body on a motorcycle parked outside, and fled the spot without even informing them that she had died.<\/p>\n
The doctor and the hospital staff have all fled fearing public anger, and the girl’s family is demanding justice. A video from outside the hospital showing the girl lying seemingly lifeless on a motorcycle has gone viral.<\/p>\n
The victim, Bharti, was taken to the Radha Swami Hospital located on Karhal Road in Ghiror area as she had a fever on Tuesday, her aunt Manisha said, adding that she was “absolutely fine” on Wednesday. The doctor then gave her an injection, after which her condition worsened, the aunt alleged, adding that the doctor told her to take Bharti to a different hospital as her condition was worsening and they couldn’t do anything about it. She said Bharti was already dead when they asked her this.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The District’s Chief Medical Officer ordered sealing the hospital after a nodal officer sent by him to the spot found there was no doctor or administrative staff there.<\/p>\n
“There was a patient present in the hospital, who had undergone surgery. He was admitted to the nearest community health centre and the hospital was sealed,” Chief Medical Officer RC Gupta said and added that the hospital was registered but the hospital operator was not a doctor, so his license was cancelled.<\/p>\n
UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who handles the state’s health department, ordered action against the private hospital on Thursday.<\/p>\n
“The family members have alleged that the girl was administered wrong treatment, after which her health deteriorated,” CMO Gupta said.<\/p>\n
Instead of making arrangements to shift her to another hospital, the staff brought the patient out and then “fled”, the family complained.<\/p>\n
“The girl died outside the hospital shortly after being removed from there,” Mr Gupta said.<\/p>\n
The CMO and the additional CMO have been asked to conduct a detailed investigation and submit their report within a week.<\/p>\n
“Action will also be taken to cancel the registration of the said hospital and lodge an FIR,” the minister posted on X.<\/p>\n
“Such incidents will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Strictest action will be taken against the culprits,” he said.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, the administration took similar action against Amethi’s Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, run by a trust headed by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, after the death of a patient due to alleged negligence.<\/p>\n
Congress and Samajwadi Party workers held protests demanding the reopening of the hospital, which also took the matter to court.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
