New Delhi: <\/b><\/p>\n

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged the misuse of artificial intelligence for creating deepfake videos, calling it a “big concern.”<\/p>\n

PM Modi said that he has asked the ChatGpt team to flag deepfakes and give a warning when such videos are circulated on the internet.<\/p>\n

“During the times of Artificial Intelligence, it is important that technology should be used responsibly,” he said.<\/p>\n

Addressing journalists at BJP’s Diwali Milan programme at the party’s headquarters in Delhi, the Prime Minister also asked the media to educate people about the issue.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Centre has advised victims to file police complaint and “avail remedies provided under the Information Technology rules”.<\/p>\n

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar last week had said that it is a “legal obligation” for online platforms to prevent the spread of misinformation.<\/p>\n

The government, the minister added, takes the safety and trust of citizens “very very seriously, and more so about our children and women who are targeted by such content”.<\/p>\n

The Centre has said that creation and circulation of deepfakes carry strong penalty – Rs 1 lakh in fine and three years in jail.<\/p>\n

Several deepfake videos – with morphed faces of actor Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif and Kajol – recently surfaced on social media, evoking huge outrage and a call for a legal action.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
