File.<br \/>\n| Photo Credit: PTI\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"content-body-65905516\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n<p>With 5,664 new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/topic\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">coronavirus<\/a> infections being reported in a day, India\u2019s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to\u00a04,45,34,188, while the active cases increased to 47,922, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The death toll climbed to\u00a05,28,337 with 35 new fatalities which includes 21 deaths reconciled by Kerala,\u00a0the data\u00a0updated\u00a0at 8 a.m. stated.<\/p>\n<p> The active cases comprise 0.11% of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.71%, the Ministry said.<\/p>\n<p> An increase of 1,074 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of\u00a024 hours.<\/p>\n<p> India\u2019s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>The country crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23 last year.
