The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York is all set to host the T20 World Cup 2024 as the venue was finally unveiled on Wednesday, May 15. Boasting a capacity of 34000, the temporary stadium is considered to be the first of its kind in international cricket and is part of one of the three venues for the T20 extravaganza in the country along with Florida and Texas.<\/p>\n
Olympic legend and T20 World Cup 2024 Brand Ambassador, Usain Bolt<\/a><\/strong>, was present at the unveiling ceremony of the largest cricket stadium in the United States. Along with him, USA cricketers Corey Anderson, Monak Patel, legendary West Indies fast bowler Sir Curtly Ambrose and former cricketers Shoaib Malik (Pakistan), and Liam Plunkett (England) were also present at the momentous occasion.<\/p>\n \u201cThe new stadium is going to be a fantastic place to watch from. It\u2019s very enclosed and you feel very close to the action. I can imagine it will be full of energy when cricket fans get to Nassau County International Stadium next month,\u201d said Bolt.<\/p>\n T20 USA Inc CEO Brett Jones also expressed excitement for the upcoming tournament and stated that it was great to have several notable people at the opening event.<\/p>\n \u201cToday was a fantastic celebration, showcasing a truly out of this world stadium. Having Usain and a host of New York sports stars and Olympic legends to experience it was fantastic and a fitting welcome to cricket in the USA. Having Curtley Ambrose, Liam Plunkett, Shoaib Malik, Corey Anderson and Monak Patel here and seeing their response to the stadium and the playing surface was also pretty special. It gives us a real sense of what the fans can expect next month,\u201d said Jones.<\/p>\n The first game to be hosted at the New York stadium will be between Sri Lanka and South Africa on Monday, June 3. However, the most awaited clash will be between India and Pakistan on Sunday, June 9. Notably, the Men in Blue will play their first three encounters at the newly constructed stadium against Ireland, Pakistan and the USA.<\/p>\n A total of 39 matches will be played across six venues throughout the tournament with the two semi-finals scheduled to be held in Trinidad and Guyana<\/a><\/strong> on June 26 and 27 respectively followed by the all-important final on June 29 in Barbados.
