It was only earlier this month that the top seeds played in the final of the Madrid Open at Manolo Santana.<\/p>\n<p>In the first semi-final of the day in Rome on Thursday, Swiatek took down young Coco Gauff in straight sets, winning the match 6-4, 6-3. Swiatek earned 4 breaks of serve to get the better of Gauff and extended her lead against the American star to 10-1.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the day, Sabalenka defeated USA\u2019s Danielle Collins, who will be retiring at the end of the season. The Belarusian won the match 7-5, 6-2. Sabalenka looked a tad nervous in the first set, but she kept marching once she found her rhythm. Sabalenka won the match 2-6, 6-2, 7-5. But since then, Swiatek has dominated and is leading her opponent 7-3. In finals, the Pole is leading 3-1 against the World No.2.<\/p>\n<p>Sabalenka had a great chance of beating Swiatek as she had 3 championship points in the final in Madrid. However, after loads of twists and turns, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/sports\/tennis\/story\/madrid-open-2024-iga-swiatek-gets-her-revenge-beats-aryna-sabalenka-in-marathon-final-2535361-2024-05-05\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Sabalenka lost the match 5-7, 6-4, 6-7 (7-9)<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Swiatek and Sabalenka are also gearing up for the upcoming French Open to be held from May 20 to June 9.
