Australia Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins recently opened up on his team’s dominant run in international cricket and said that they’ve been really lucky with their careers. Notably, the Kangaroos are on a roll in international cricket under the leadership of Cummins having won the World Test Championship (WTC) and the ODI World Cup in 2023.

Recently, the Aussie skipper was asked where would he rate his team among the great Australian sides from the past 20 years. The 31-year-old refrained from making any comment and said that it’s for the people to decide. However, Cummins mentioned that they’ve ticked off almost everything and have been happy with how the group has been.

“It’s not for me to say. We’ve ticked off almost everything that you would hope for. Most of the guys have won, the World Test Championship now, multiple World Cups. We all have been really really lucky with the careers that we’ve had. I will let others decide that but yeah really happy with how the group has been,” said Cummins in an exclusive conversation with SportsTak.

The Australian seamer was also asked about the subdued reception of their team in Australia after the World Cup win in India. Explaining the condition, Cummins revealed that everyone in the country was buzzing following the victory but the euphoria was a bit different from India.

“Yeah, that’s Australia for you. It’s great, it’s peaceful. It is a little bit different because everyone flies off to different states. We didn’t have kind of one big celebration upon arrival back in Australia but I can tell you that everyone was buzzing every time we went out on the streets. Out for the coffee or whatever for the next couple of weeks, everyone was absolutely about that World Cup final as were we, the players. Might not be like the streets lined up as maybe you’d get here if India won but I can tell you a lot of fans were really happy,” he added.

Meanwhile, Cummins has led SRH to their third Indian Premier League final following a 36-run victory over RR in Qualifier 2. Hyderabad will next take on KKR in the summit clash on Sunday, May 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Having won two major ICC trophies in his captaincy tenure so far, captain Cummins will be eager to add an IPL trophy to his cabinet as well.
