That provides teams an opportunity to play nine matches, which puts the record for batsman scoring most runs in a single edition under serious threat.

Currently, India’s run-machine Kohli sits on top of the list. He scored 319 runs in the 2014 edition, where India played six matches.
Australia eye historic sweep
Under the captaincy of Pat Cummins, Australia are the reigning Test and ODI champions. If the Aussies manage to win the T20 World Cup as well, they will become the first team to be in possession of ICC trophies across formats at the same time. Former South African batsman AB de Villiers holds the current record with 23 catches. Former New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill is next with 19 catches, followed by Warner (21 catches) and Rohit as well as Glenn Maxwell (16 catches each).
(With inputs from icc-cricket.com)

[ad_2]

Source link

[ad_1] If the batting and big-hitting standards redefined in IPL 2024 are considered a new mark in the format, the upcoming T20 World Cup may see some of the tournamment records in line to be rewritten.
