Manchester United have announced that they will begin a \u00a350 million redevelopment of their Carrington training ground next week and renovation of the men’s first team building is set to span the entire 2024\/25 season. This \u00a350 million project aims to create a high-performance, collaborative environment for players and staff, reflecting the club’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and future success.<\/p>\n

The extensive refurbishment will touch every part of the building, transforming it into a world-class football facility. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of Manchester United, emphasized the importance of the project: \u201cWe want to create a world-class environment for our teams to win. When we conducted a thorough review of the Carrington training facilities and met with our men\u2019s first-team players, it was clear the standards had fallen below some of our peers. This project will ensure Manchester United\u2019s training ground is once more renovated to the highest standards.”<\/p>\n

Leading the architectural design for the project is Foster + Partners, the renowned practice headed by Manchester-born Lord Norman Foster. Foster + Partners brings a wealth of experience of designing cutting-edge football stadiums and arenas, including the iconic Wembley Stadium and the Lusail Stadium in Qatar, which was the centerpiece of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. <\/p>\n

Renovation work will commence on Monday and is projected to continue throughout the 2024\/25 season. The initial phase will focus on key areas such as the gym, medical facilities, nutrition, and recovery zones. The design will prioritize creating more space for collaboration and innovation among players and staff, enhancing the overall functionality and atmosphere of the training complex.<\/p>\n

To ensure the smooth continuation of operations during the renovation, temporary adaptations will be made to other parts of the Carrington site. This will allow players and staff from all teams to maintain their training and activities without significant disruption.<\/p>\n

This modernization initiative follows the recent completion of a \u00a310 million state-of-the-art building for the women\u2019s and Academy teams, which opened last summer. Manchester United have invested over \u00a360 million in developing an integrated facility for the entire football department over the past two years, underscoring the club\u2019s dedication to providing top-tier resources for all its players.<\/p>\n
