By India Today Web Desk: Australia fast-bowler Mitchell Starc has said that the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series is going to be a great challenge. Australia are set to play a four-match Test series against India, starting February 9.
Speaking to Erin Holland at the Australia Cricket Awards, Starc said you never know what the Indian conditions are, adding that it is going to be a great challenge for the Australian team.
I guess you never really know what to expect from the conditions in India but we have a fair idea, that it is obviously going to turn. You never quite know until you start the game or decide which wicket to play on. So, it is going to be a great challenge,” said Starc.
The left-arm pacer said the team is in a good position going into the Indian tour, adding that there is some good cricket coming up in the next couple of months. Starc was nursing a finger injury but has been declared fit for the India series.
“The team is in as good a position that we can be heading into an Indian tour. It’s exciting with the women going for the World Cup and we have a long tour of India. So plenty of good cricket to watch over the next couple of months, so we’re just wishing for some good success for Australia,” Starc added.
Australia women’s wicket-keeping batter Alyssa Healy was also present with Starc and said that it would be nice for her to be picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore for the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League.
“It is going to be a very exciting period of 12 months, it’s going to be tough but exciting. (On WPL auction) Beggars cant be choosers I reckon. I’m in the auction so we’ll see where I’ll end up but it will be a nice touch to go to RCB,” said Healy.
