NEW DELHI: India’s Jyothi Yarraji scripted history on Thursday at the Asian Athletics Championships in Bangkok, securing India’s first gold medal by triumphing in the women’s 100m hurdles race.
The 23-year-old sprinter clocked an impressive time of 13.09 seconds, leaving Japanese athletes Terada Asuka (13.13s) and Aoki Masumi (13.26s) in her wake on the rain-soaked track at the Supachalasai Stadium.

Yarraji’s remarkable achievement marks her maiden top finish in a major international event, and her national record currently stands at an impressive 12.82 seconds.
