प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने गुरुवार को गोवा के मडगांव में 37वें राष्ट्रीय खेलों का उद्घाटन किया। 26 अक्तूबर से नौ नवंबर तक चलने वाले इस खेल मेले में विभिन्न खेलों के लगभग 10,000 एथलीट भाग लेंगे। गोवा में जन्मी भारतीय पेशेवर विंड सर्फर कात्या इडा कोएल्हो ने प्रधानमंत्री को मशाल सौंपी।

फतोर्दा के जवाहरलाल नेहरू स्टेडियम में भव्य उद्घाटन समारोह में सुखविंदर सिंह और राज्य की हेमा सरदेसाई सहित प्रसिद्ध कलाकारों ने प्रदर्शन किया। इसमें भाग लेने वाली 28 टीमों के एथलीट ने परेड की। समारोह राष्ट्रीय एकता की थीम पर आधारित रहा, जिसमें 600 कलाकार शामिल हुए। इस प्रतियोगिता में 28 स्थलों पर 43 खेल स्पर्धाओं का आयोजन किया जाएगा।

मडगांव के पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू स्टेडियम में पीएम मोदी ने 37वें राष्ट्रीय खेलों का उद्घाटन किया। इस दौरान उन्होंने गोवा की जमकर तारीफ की और सभी को राष्ट्रीय खेलों की बधाई दी। उन्होंने गोवा में फुटबॉल के प्रति दीवानगी की भी सराहना की।

इस दौरान पीएम ने कहा “खेलों में भारत की सफलता देश की समग्र सफलता की कहानी से अलग नहीं है। भारत नए कीर्तिमान बना रहा है और सभी क्षेत्रों में आगे बढ़ रहा है और इसे देश की पिछले 30 दिनों की उपलब्धि से देखा जा सकता है…”
