MI team’s co-owner Nita Ambani gave a pep-talk to uplift the team’s spirit after their disappointing performance in IPL 2024. Nita acknowledged that the team did not have a great run in the ongoing edition of the league. MI finished at the bottom of the points table with just 4 wins in 14 games, which included 10 losses.

MI released a video on their social media handle featuring Mrs Ambani, who was in attendance during MI’s last home game of the season against LSG at the Wankhede Stadium on May 17, Friday. While addressing the dressing room, she mentioned that the ongoing season did not go as per the plan for the 5-time champions. However, Nita expressed immense pride and honour to have been associated with a franchise like MI. She also mentioned that the management would introspect as to what went wrong this season.

“Disappointing season for all of us. Things didn’t go the way we wanted them to, but I’m still a huge Mumbai Indians fan. Not just an owner. I think to wear the Mumbai Indians jersey is a huge honour and a privilege, and to be associated with Mumbai Indians, for me, is an honour and a privilege. I think, we will go back, review and think about it,” Nita said. IPL 2024 Full Coverage | IPL 2024 Points Table and Standings | 2024 IPL Full Schedule

It was the 2nd time in 3 years that MI finished at the bottom of the table. Before 2024, MI finished at the bottom of the table in 2022, something they had never done before. IPL 2024, MI vs LSG: Match Report

NITA WISHES LUCK TO INDIAN TEAM

Nita also wished luck to the MI players who will represent India in the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies.

“To Rohit, Hardik, Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) and (Jasprit) Bumrah, I think, all Indians are cheering for you. We wish you all the best,” she said.

MI finished the 2022 auction cycle with a win-loss record of 17-27, which turned out to be the worst record amongst the 10 teams. 9 of those wins came in the 2023 season alone. Not the kind of season the team and the fans would have hoped for after the much-debated captaincy change.
