World No.2 Aryna Sabalenka crashed out of the French Open 2024 after losing to 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinal. On Wednesday (June 5), Sabalenka lost 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 4-6 to the teenage sensation at Philippe-Chatrier. Andreeva also made her way through to her maiden semi-final where she will be up against ItalyтАЩs Jasmine Paolini, who earlier knocked fourth seed Elena Rybakina out of the competition.

Andreeva took only 2 hours and 29 minutes to pull off her biggest victory in her career. Andreeva became the youngest woman to reach the semi-final of a Grand Slam since Martina Hingis did it at the Roland Garros back in 1997. From being the runners-up in the Australian Open girls singles back in 2022, it goes without saying that Andreeva has taken giant strides in her career.

Andreeva earned 3 breaks of serve in the first set, but Sabalenka earned the breaks back to take it into a tie-breaker. From there on, Sabalenka closed out the set bringing forth all his experience. From the second set onwards, errors started creeping in from Sabalenka, giving the young Andreeva a chance to storm back.
